Why book publicity rocks!

If you’ve written a book, no matter what the genre, garnering book publicity is a great way to boost awareness and drive book sales. Let’s face it, we live in a world where most of our purchases are based on the media influencing us to buy something.
Your book in a national magazine, featured on a popular website, or on your favorite television show is a great way to brand your title and gain exposure as an author.
Have you ever been watching Wendy Williams and a celebrity comes on discussing their new cookbook? Wendy and the celebrity do a segment on the show where they cook one of the recipes right on the show. As the segment is ending, Wendy tells her viewing audience that the celebrity author’s cookbook Dieting on a Budget can be purchased in bookstores worldwide.
And guess what? The entire studio audience is going home with their very own copy! The cameraman captures the studio audience clapping and cheering, while the viewing audience at home opens a new tab and heads over to Amazon to purchase a copy.
Meanwhile, as soon as the show ends, members of the studio audience pull out their cellphones bragging to everyone they know that they were a part of the Wendy William’s audience and received a free copy of Dieting on a Budget. They share with their friends and family that the recipes look pretty good and they should purchase themselves a copy.
Can you say solid book publicity with a great word of mouth component?
Here’s what I want you to know. This type of publicity is not exclusive to celebrity authors. You are able to garner the same type of publicity for your book in a magazine, a popular website or featured on your favorite television show.

I have you in my Google Reader (RIP), I mean Bloglovin List.
I have just published a short fiction story and I wrote about it on my blog, I sent info out to my (very small) list of subscribers and I tweeted about it.
So far I have had lots of people download a free copy and have received three positive reviews on Amazon.
I don't know if this will translate into sales but this has been a great learning curve.
By the way, I love watching Wendy and how she is blatantly promoting her own new book "Ask Wendy" Hey, if you have got the platform, you need to use it. lol
Lol. Wendy does it and so does Dr. Phil. But I guarantee you it helps sales down the line.Sent from my iPhone
