The Life Of A Writer – Ten random things about me as a writer

One of the most frequently visited posts on my blog is the Top ten things you should know about me as a writer. It was a post to share with my readers a little about me as a person and a fun way to get to know my readers as well.  So in the spirit of you getting to know me better and me doing the same, here’s ten random things you should know about me as a writer:

1.) I only watch television when I’m watching shows that are recorded on my DVR. This allows me the opportunity to live life knowing that I don’t have to schedule my day around a particular show.

2.) I haven’t watched the news since about 2008. I’m not sure about your local news, but the news here in Chicago is doom and gloom and not a good way to start my day.

3.) I love reading inspirational books. It’s very important that I stay positive so I always try to have a book with a positive message handy.

4.) I LOVE YouTube. I enjoy watching videos on my favorite subjects from haircare to fashion. Speaking of….are you subscribed to my channel The Life Of A Writer?

5.) In 2008, I drastically changed the way I eat. I cut out processed foods, white rice, white flour, white bread, junk foods and deep fried foods. I mostly eat organic.

6.) Reality television is a guilty pleasure. There I said it!

7.) I frequently have phrases/sayings that I repeat for months at a time, until a friend or family member starts to say it, then I let it go.

8.) I cannot express to you how much I LOVE popcorn. It has gotten to the point where I’ll open a bag and literally can’t stop eating it. Love love love popcorn! Oh and ditto for green smoothies, check out my recipe.

9.) I really enjoy going to the gym. I was very athletic as a child and had gotten out of being physical until I started going to the gym some years ago.

10.) When I’m working on a manuscript, its very difficult for me to write if there is someone in the house with me. Ideally, I’d like to be home alone.

Please share some random things I should know about you in the comment section below.

@Lisa – I LOOOOVE Phineas and Ferb and Harry Potter!

Love your list Stefanie. I love that you also go to show tapings!!

Let me see….a couple things about me:
    I sleep with a blanket I've had since I was a baby.
I love musicals and movies about the arts and reality shows about the arts. all of them.
I have Kids Bop songs on my ipod for my kids to listen to, but I listen to the songs when they're not around. often.

    Hi, I'll play.
    1) For nearly 2 years now I have felt weird because I moved to Germany from Indianapolis. I am in a charming NorthWestern village. There is more to it, but that's the main thing.

    2) You can find out a lot more about me easily by checking out Uranian Fiction or by just Googling my name.

    3) I'm pretty tall for a woman but there are lots of men and a good 15% of women who are taller – I'm well under 6 feet, at 5'7/8".

    4) I was astounded when 2 years part time working as an assistant gardener caused a lot of my hair to turn naturally blonde for the first time in literally 30+ years. When I was a child I had thought my hair had just turned brown when actually it was from spending so much time in the shade of indoors – school and after school TV and the YMCA. So, "wow that whole time it was just 'Duh' I hadn't even realized.'

    5) Although I first wrote a novel in the late 1980s this year the novel I wrote nearly 20 years later in 2006 is finally due to be released by the Indian publisher Alethia.

    6) I have one male child who is 16 years old. Back when we were all worrying about global population I voluntarily selected to 'join the Chinese 1 child scheme' although an American woman in the West.

    7) Rush & U2 were my hugest teen identity-making bands. Not the only ones I liked but ultra favorite.

    8) I have read all of Friedrich Nietzsche's works but in English as translated by Walter Kaufmann.

    9) Even though 8 is true, I don't think I'm a Nietzschean but his writing was flashier than all the other philosophers. Wow, but true.

    10) I never made it above brown belt or MA offered so far, but I had hoped for black belt levels and either to be so good I don't need a Doctorate or else to have one.

That almost tells you too much.
