Five Star Review – Pull Your Pants Up and be a man!

Pull Your Pants Up and be a man! is the self help book for teenage boys written by Bernice Harris and the foreword is by actor Malik Yoba. You may know Malik from Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?

I’m so proud of the success of this book. From its release this book has been lauded by administrators, parents, and children. Soon after the book’s release I was asked to attend a Father & Son Event at Madison Square Garden. The first annual event boasted speakers John Starks (New York Knicks) and Kym Hampton (WNBA New York Liberty). As soon as the name of the book was announced we received a rousing applause. It was then, that I knew we had it, that hidden little gem.

See…the amazing thing is, everyone gets caught on the name Pull Your Pants Up and be a man, and understandably so. Hence the catchy title. But the book goes beyond the name and speaks to the child respectfully while empowering him from the opening of the book. Through the foreword by Malik Yoba and the author’s own loving words the child’s self-esteem is boosted and he is encouraged to dream and set goals.

I call it the conversation that EVERY parent should have with their son. I would best describe it as a book that every young man should read. No matter what their situation.
