3 tips for using social media to drive traffic to your author page

Yesterday we discussed how blog comments can help sell books. Similarly interacting on social media can also drive traffic to your author page and help sell books and/or products.

I’ve written previously on the importance of engaging your audience on social media sites, so I won’t beat the drum of that in this particular blog post.

However, this post is to reiterate how engaging on social media is akin to book marketing and can drive traffic back to your author page or blog.

Here are 3 tips for using social media to drive traffic to your author page or social media profile:

- Leave relevant comments pertinent to your book’s subject matter on wall postings of a friend on Facebook. You will not only be engaging with the poster, but also capture the attention of their friends. Hopefully, the page you post on will have an already engaged audience, who are commenting, liking, and sharing content.

- On Twitter, develop mutually beneficial relationships with tweeters with an established audience. Provide useful feedback to their tweets to create a dialogue.

- On Nings, use the group and forum function to engage in dialogue with people who share a similar interest. Establish yourself as an authority on your book’s subject matter and include your website and book information in your profile.

It’s all pretty simple! Brand yourself as an authority and get your message in front of as many people as possible.

You’re visiting social media sites anyway, why not engage with people who will help share your message?
