The Life Of A Writer – Writers and their dreams

I have always said that I enjoy going to sleep.  Not only is it a time for my body to rest but it is for the lack of better words – a great source of entertainment. After a busy day of being a creative being and working on my upcoming novel, bedtime has become an extension of my imagination.

I am sometimes truly amazed by what manifests in my dreams.

My dreams have always been intense but lately they’ve become more and more like movies and less like actual dreams. I remember my sister telling me about her dreams when I was younger, and I’d look at her in amazement. I used to tease her and tell her that her dreams were either books or movies in the making.

And now, on some nights, my dreams are LITERALLY just that…

When I was younger I had the typical dreams of flying and jumping over buildings, LOL. Everyone has those dreams right? Tell me I’m not the only one?

Somebody? Anybody? LOL.

I’ve had the recurring dreams…

But occasionally my dreams are set your DVR/BLOCKBUSTER/straight to DVD films.

I had a dream a few months ago that was so vivid, when I woke up my heart was beating rapidly and it took me a minute to realize that it was ONLY a dream.

The dream played out like a movie.

Some of the players in the dream were people that I actually know, but others were not. It was completely random and action packed, like a movie you’d go to the theater to see. I would tell you what the dream was about but after sharing the dream with my mother, I decided that I had to turn it into a screenplay. It was just that intense.

So it got me to wondering….What kinds of dreams do you have? Have you ever been inspired to write a story around your dream? Please share in the comment section below.

I haven't dreamed in a long time. At least I don't remember any recent dreams. I often write stories around daydreams I have. They begin with a real life situation that leads me to ask "what if". Before I know it I've thought out an entire story based on that daydream.
